Understanding the Cost of Care: Insurance & Out-of-pocket Information for You
In Network Insurance (Michigan & Illinois):
• Aetna
• UnitedHealthcare (UHC)
• Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)
Sessions are virtual for both Illinois and Michigan.
(If that changes, I’ll update you on where offices may pop up.)
Helpful Questions to Ask Your Insurance Provider:
• Do I have mental health coverage?
• What’s my copay or deductible for therapy?
• Are virtual/telehealth sessions covered?
• How many therapy sessions are included each year?
Private Pay Rates:
Individual Therapy
• Intake Session: $200
• Ongoing 50-Minute Sessions: $150
Couples Therapy
• Intake Session: $200
• Ongoing 50-Minute Sessions: $175
If insurance isn’t a fit, or you prefer to pay out-of-pocket, these rates make it simple.
If I’m not in-network for your insurance plan, I can provide a superbill
— Just a heads up: not all insurance plans accept superbills, so please check with your provider first.
GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE
If you’re paying Out-of-pocket
As part of the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the total expected cost of therapy services.
What’s included in your estimate?
• Intake session fee
• Ongoing session fees
• Any other planned charges related to care
This estimate will be provided:
• Before your first session
• Anytime you request it
The estimate is not a contract or bill—it’s a way to help you plan your care with transparency and ease.
🚨 If you get a bill that’s $400+ more than your estimate, you can dispute it.
