Therapy for Trauma, Anxiety & Self-Esteem
Life can get overwhelming pretty quickly. It's rough out here!
Sometimes you just need somewhere to talk about the things that leave you feeling confused, ashamed, stuck, or completely exhausted.
My approach is simple: come in, get comfortable, and show up exactly as you are. We'll get curious about what's happening in your life, what's been weighing on you, and what you'd like to change.
I bring warmth and honesty into our work together, and I’m not afraid to challenge you when it’s helpful. I'll absolutely validate your feelings, but I'll also ask the questions that might make you a little uncomfortable. That's part of the work!
I bring humor, compassion, and experience from inpatient, outpatient, residential, and partial hospitalization settings into our conversations.
And no, there won't be any dramatic clipboard moments like you've seen in the movies!
-
Trauma can affect how you see yourself, trust others, and respond to everyday situations. We'll explore how your experiences have shaped you without rushing into conversations you're not ready to have.
-
Whether you're questioning your relationship with substances or working toward change, we can talk honestly about what's happening. My goal is to understand your experiences without reducing you to a diagnosis or a behavior.
-
Self-harm and disordered eating can be connected to complicated emotions, shame, and ways of coping. We'll work to understand what you're experiencing, build safer coping strategies, and identify additional support when needed.
-
Anxiety and depression can make everything feel harder, including getting out of bed, making decisions, or connecting with people. We'll explore what's contributing to those feelings and what might help you manage them.
-
Maybe you struggle with trusting people, setting boundaries, or feeling good enough. We'll look at how your experiences have shaped those beliefs and what healthier relationships with yourself and others could look like.
-
Faith can be a source of comfort, but experiences involving religion can also bring confusion, guilt, or pain. We can explore your relationship with faith, including difficult experiences, without any judgment or pressure whatsoever.
Muslim Mental Health, Religious Shame & Healing
Struggling doesn't make you any less deserving of compassion.
In some Muslim communities, conversations about mental health, trauma, and personal struggles can carry a lot of shame.
Maybe you've been told you should pray more, have stronger faith, or keep certain experiences private. Maybe you're trying to understand how guilt, trauma, or religious messages have shaped your relationship with Allah (swt).
I want you to know that seeking support doesn't make you any less Muslim.
As a Muslim therapist, I understand the important role faith can play in our lives and the ways our experiences can shape how we understand ourselves, our struggles, and the world around us.
We can talk about shame, spirituality, mistakes, and difficult experiences without reducing you to any of them.
You don't have to choose between taking care of your mental health and honoring your faith.

Therapy for Trauma, Anxiety & Muslim Mental Health: Common Questions
-
Absolutely. I work with adults from different backgrounds and experiences. My clinical work includes trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, self-esteem, relationships, and other mental health concerns. While I have a particular interest in supporting Muslim clients, you don't need to share my faith or cultural background to work with me.
-
Yes. Religious guilt and shame can affect how you see yourself, your relationships, and your sense of belonging. Sometimes these feelings come from personal experiences, family expectations, or harmful interpretations of religious teachings. We can work together to understand where these feelings come from, how they affect you, and how to navigate them moving forward.
-
You can talk about those experiences without worrying that I'll judge you. I've worked with people navigating these concerns in different clinical settings, and I understand that behaviors often have complicated reasons behind them. We'll focus on understanding what's happening, assessing your needs, and finding appropriate support. Depending on the situation, additional or more intensive care may be important.
-
Both! I believe feeling heard and understood is important, but I also think therapy should help you notice things you might not recognize on your own. I'll ask questions, offer different perspectives, and gently challenge patterns when it feels useful. My goal isn't to make you uncomfortable for the sake of it. It's to help you grow while feeling supported.
-
Of course. Whether your faith is a source of comfort or you're navigating difficult experiences involving religion, those conversations are welcome. I understand how personal religious experiences can be, particularly when shame or cultural expectations are involved. We can explore these feelings together with care, understanding, and sensitivity to your experiences. At the end of the day, we're all human, and we all deserve support as we navigate life's challenges.
