Family and relationship challenges can be exhausting, especially when the same disagreements keep coming up. We'll explore how you communicate, the roles you've taken on, and what might help you feel more understood and connected.
-
Sometimes we carry patterns, expectations, or ways of coping that started long before us. Therapy can help you understand how family experiences have shaped you and decide what you want to keep or change.
-
Anxiety can show up as overthinking, irritability, difficulty relaxing, or feeling constantly on edge. We'll look at what's contributing to those feelings and explore ways to respond to stress without becoming overwhelmed by it.
-
Grief isn't always predictable, and it doesn't look the same for everyone. Whether you're grieving someone you've lost or a relationship or life you expected, we'll make room for the feelings that come with it.
-
It's hard to feel confident when you're constantly questioning yourself or measuring your choices against other people's expectations. We'll explore where those doubts come from and how you can develop more trust in yourself.
-
Changes in relationships, careers, family roles, or personal identity can leave you feeling uncertain. Therapy can help you sort through what you're feeling and make decisions that reflect what's important to you.
Relational Therapy for Anxiety, Relationships & Emotional Healing
You don't have to figure everything out on your own.
I believe a lot of what we learn about ourselves comes from our relationships. The people we've loved, the families we've grown up in, and the experiences we've had all shape how we see ourselves and connect with others.
My approach is warm, relational, and collaborative. I want our conversations to feel comfortable and genuine, even when we're talking about difficult things.
I'm not here to tell you who you should be or what decisions you need to make. I'm here to get curious with you about the patterns you've developed, what they've helped you through, and whether they're still working for you.
I believe the relationship we build in therapy matters. Feeling understood and respected can make it easier to explore things you may not have felt comfortable sharing before.
Culturally Responsive Therapy for Family Relationships & Intergenerational Healing
You can love your family and still want things to be different.
Our families shape so much of how we understand love, responsibility, communication, and who we're supposed to be.
Sometimes those lessons are helpful. Other times, we find ourselves repeating patterns that don't feel right anymore.
As a Puerto Rican woman, I recognize how deeply culture, family relationships, and societal expectations can influence our experiences.
I approach these conversations with cultural humility. I won't assume I understand your story based on your background, and I won't tell you what your relationship with your family should look like.
We can explore what you've learned, what matters to you, and what you'd like to do differently while still honoring the parts of your identity and relationships you value.

Therapy for Relationships, Family Dynamics & Anxiety: Common Questions
-
Yes. Family conflict often involves patterns that have developed over many years. You might find yourself falling into familiar roles, avoiding certain conversations, or feeling responsible for keeping everyone happy. Therapy can help you recognize those patterns, understand where they came from, and explore different ways of responding.
-
Intergenerational trauma refers to the ways difficult experiences and their effects can influence families across generations. This might show up through beliefs about emotions, expectations, communication, or how people respond to stress. Therapy can help you understand those influences without blaming your family or assuming every pattern comes from trauma.
-
Couples therapy can help partners better understand their relationship patterns, communicate more openly, and explore what's contributing to distance or recurring conflict. Sometimes that means learning to talk about difficult feelings. Other times, it's recognizing how past experiences influence your current relationship. We'll focus on understanding each person's perspective and what you both want to work toward.
-
Setting boundaries can feel especially complicated when family loyalty, cultural expectations, or responsibility are important parts of your life. You might worry that saying no means disappointing someone or being disrespectful. In therapy, we can explore those feelings and identify boundaries that reflect both your needs and the relationships you value.
-
Culturally responsive therapy means recognizing that your identity, relationships, community, and experiences all influence how you move through the world. As a Puerto Rican therapist, my own experiences inform how I approach this work, but I don't assume they mirror yours. I want to understand your perspective and make sure your values and experiences are respected throughout our work together.
